Push notifications (Push) from your organization’s mobile app are a great way to communicate to patients. Using Push ‘Calls to Action’ are the norm for announcing new services, expanded hours and gathering needed input. Pushing news blasts can also be effective when you have important treatment options to share.
The COVID-19 pandemic has created many scenarios where push notifications have been helpful. Examples: links to testing and vaccine sites, clinic closures and updates to hospital visiting policies. The value continues as news is available that your patients may not know about.
“Treatment options for COVID are an important use case for Push,” comments Bonnie Offit, MD, Chief Innovation Officer at Self Care Decisions. “New medications have had good results in clinical trials. Paxlovid is a newer oral medicine to treat patients who are at high risk for getting a more serious case.”
Your organization could send a Push to all patients alerting them to this news. It’s important they recognize their illness quickly and get a link to instructions of what to do next. Patients must work with their healthcare team in order to receive these treatments. The earlier treatments are given, the better the chance to make a difference in the outcome. Mobile apps are a great way to broadcast the news about these treatment options… but adding email notifications is a great second option.
There has been so much COVID coverage that many people no longer pay attention to those headlines. This puts awareness of new treatments in jeopardy. Push notifications may be the missing link to connecting the right patients to key details.
