Self Care Decisions Joins the Epic App Orchard Marketplace

Self Care Decisions is pleased to announce that its Symptom Checker is now on Epic Connection Hub. Through this marketplace, we can offer Epic clients the ability to integrate symptom checking / self triage with MyChart. In turn, the tool supports their patients’ healthcare decisions. It also directs patient flow to scheduling options and appropriate locations within their organization.

Placing a ‘Check Your Symptoms’ link within MyChart helps patients decide what action they need to take and when (how soon). The integration pulls in the patient’s name, age and gender, which personalizes the interaction and streamlines the experience.

“Joining Epic’s Connection Hub is another step in our mission to deliver patient self-service. It supports decision-making and connects them to the right, cost-effective care,” said Self Care Decisions’ CEO Sue Riffel. “More than 100 health systems use our symptom checker on their public-facing websites and/or within their mobile engagement apps. Adding the option to integrate with MyChart extends the ability to guide patients to the right care at the right time.”

Features of the integrated symptom checker include:

  • Connects users to your organization’s physicians, facilities and services
  • Mobile-first design; displays well on mobile devices
  • Customizable brand and fulfillment actions
  • Easy to implement
  • Always up to date

“We’re very excited to bring Self Care’s symptom checker to the Epic Connection Hub, where we’re able to offer a more personalized experience to their patients and plan members,” said Hannah Young, Vice President of Client Services.

About Self Care Decisions

We license Symptom Checker content to hospitals, health plans and physician practices. It supports patients’ healthcare decisions and builds self-care skills. The content is derived from the Schmitt telephone triage protocols used by thousands of health systems and physicians.

Our implementation allows health systems to quickly map the symptom endpoints to its assets: physician finders, scheduling, facilities and telehealth services. The symptom Checker engages patients at the first step of their healthcare journey: the symptom. For more information, please visit http://www.selfcare.info.
