Epic MyChart integration:
MyChart API & MyChart symptom checker for smarter patient triage

Implement our Epic EHR integration to enhance patient self-triage, streamline scheduling, and improve care navigation. Our Epic MyChart integration empowers patients with evidence-based decision support, guiding them to the most appropriate care — whether it’s a virtual visit, an in-person appointment, or self-care instructions.

Available through the Epic Showroom, this integration ensures that health systems can optimize Epic nurse triage, reduce unnecessary calls, and keep patients within their network. With Epic FHIR integration, our solution personalizes the experience by pulling in patient demographics and directly connecting to scheduling, provider directories, and telehealth services — all within MyChart Web and MyChart Mobile.

Looking for a smarter way to drive patient engagement? Our Symptom Checker acts as a clinical decision support tool that connects users to the right care at the right time. It integrates seamlessly with your scheduling, virtual visits, and in-person services, making it an ideal component of your digital front door strategy.

MyChart Web & MyChart Mobile

Our MyChart Symptom Checker is now fully integrated within MyChart Web and MyChart Mobile. You can request the integration through the Epic Showroom. Having the symptom checker within MyChart directs patient flow to virtual visits, scheduling options, and the right locations supported by your organization.

Our implementation allows health systems to quickly map the symptom endpoints to their assets:

  • Physician finders
  • Scheduling
  • Facilities
  • Telehealth services
"By adding our symptom checker to MyChart Web and MyChart Mobile, we further our mission of supporting patient self-service. It supports healthcare decisions and connects them to the right, cost-effective care. Hundreds of health systems use our symptom checker on their websites and within their engagement apps. Placement within MyChart Mobile connects patients directly to the organization’s services, physicians and facilities."

Support Scheduling Decisions with MyChart Integration

Our MyChart integration supports patient scheduling decisions, whether it is used for:

  • in person appointments
  • eVisits
  • virtual/video visits

Implementing the Symptom Checker – MyChart integration offers timely decision support – just as patients consider which option to choose. Place a ‘Symptom Checker’ link within MyChart’s “Find Care” menu for easy access, enabling a one-tap connection to patient scheduling. This provides patients the ability to quickly assess their symptoms and decide what action they need to take. Our health system clients often place links  near “Schedule an Appointment” or “Message My Doctor” to result in the most use.

Value to Patients

MyChart patients receive proven benefits from the MyChart Symptom Checker capabilities:

  • determine how sick they are (or their loved one is)
  • find out the most appropriate action to take
  • one tap or click to fulfillment: your facilities, scheduling, physicians and virtual care
  • quick self-care instructions for symptoms relief

PLUS: the integration personalizes and streamlines the experience by including the patient’s name, age and gender throughout the self-triage process. And within MyChart, there are direct connections to scheduling care.

Benefits to Your Organization

Think of the symptom checker as an evidence-based tool that directs patient flow.

  • It delivers appropriate patients to self-scheduling and virtual care through Epic’sSMART on FHIR environment, ensuring seamless data exchange.
  • The ‘In-MyChart’ connections keep patients within your health system.
  • It offloads calls to practices, clinics and contact centers.

The integration also supports sharing the symptom encounter summary with the patient’s practitioner within Epic EHR integration workflows. It leverages Epic’s SendMessage API to deliver the information to an In Basket, from which it can be forwarded or copied/pasted into an encounter. The integration has been available since 2019 and can be licensed through the Epic Showroom.

Epic Showroom

Our MyChart Symptom Checker is available for license through Epic Showroom, offering streamlined patient triage and self-scheduling. The tool supports their patients’ healthcare decisions. It also allows your organization to direct patient flow to scheduling options and appropriate locations within your organization.

Placing a ‘Check Your Symptoms’ link within MyChart helps patients decide what action they need to take and when (how soon). The integration accesses an Epic API to pull in the patient’s name, age and gender, which personalizes the interaction and streamlines the experience.

“Joining Epic’s Showroom is another step in our mission to deliver patient self-service. It supports decision-making and connects them to the right, cost-effective care.
