Bonnie Offit MD, 30 years of general pediatric experience combined with 5 years of digital health leadership
Windsor, Colorado: Self Care Decisions is pleased to introduce Dr. Bonnie Offit as its new Chief Health Innovation Officer, effective May 1, 2021.
Dr. Offit joins our company from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), where she was the physician lead in their Office of Digital Health for the past 5 years. Dr. Offit brings her experience in pediatrics and digital health initiatives to Self Care Decisions to bolster our innovations and growth. Highlights include:
- extending our triage symptom checker to provide diagnoses
- enhancing our offerings for Epic’s App Orchard (and other patient portals)
- supporting chatbot content delivery and configurations
- integrating symptom check encounters with telemedicine, call centers and EMRs
“I have been intrigued by Self Care Decisions’ symptom checker and mobile apps for quite some time, and now thrilled to be part of the team,” states Offit. “From the moment people need medical care, there are ways technology can make their healthcare journeys a little easier. Instead of using ‘Dr. Google’ to query a new ailment (and end up scaring themselves), they can use an evidence-based symptom checker like the Self Care Decision’s tool to determine the best, safe levels of care and then seamlessly connect to the right facilities. My work at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where I helped implement virtual visits and other mobile health tools, lends itself well to joining the amazing team at Self Care Decisions. I am eagerly adding my passion and experience wherever they need me.”
“Our work with Children’s Hospital clients connected us with Bonnie and there was an immediate bond over advancing tools to help parents and, of course, their children,” says Sue Riffel, CEO at Self Care Decisions. “We’ve planned an aggressive product path and Dr. Offit’s talents and experiences are a perfect fit to help move them forward. And, of course, her familiarity with Dr. Schmitt and his decision support content lets her hit the ground running.”Self Care Decisions manages and distributes the most trusted consumer Symptom Checker. It’s based upon the telephone triage protocols used by 95% of Medical Call Centers in North America, authored by Barton Schmitt MD and others. The symptom checker is licensed by hundreds of health systems, 25+ Children’s Hospitals, health plans and physician practices and was also chosen by the American Academy of Pediatrics for use on their parenting website.
